Boulder Creek Could Become A Hazard During 'Creek Fest'
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - As severe weather heads to the foothills people in Boulder are worried about flooding. One area of concern is the Boulder Creek.
At 2 p.m. on Friday the creek was running normal for this time of year. There currently are no bans on tubing or kayaking, but that could change quickly in late afternoon.
Barker Reservoir near Nederland is expected to spill over, adding hundreds of cubic feet of water per second to the flow of Boulder Creek.
There are a number of things going on creating a volatile situation. This year there is higher than normal snowmelt, there have been heavy storms for the past several days, and creeks have changed course as a result of last year's flooding.

Public Works for the city says they have had crews out that are doing sediment and bank restoration work.
Heavy rain could bring more debris. On top of all of that, it is Boulder Creek Festival this weekend, bringing thousands of people to Boulder. They are urging caution more than ever this year.
