Phila. FOP Says Quick Information in Deadly Purse-Snatch Will Mean Larger Reward

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The union that represents Philadelphia police officers says it is putting a bounty on the three men responsible for the January 19th murder of Amber Long in Northern Liberties.

John McNesby, president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, says their share of the reward money being offered currently stands at $10,000 for information leading to the three suspects who shot and killed 26-year-old Amber Long during a purse-snatching incident (see related story).

Long's mother was with her and witnessed the murder (another related story).

"The cowards, the thugs, the dirtballs, the scumbags -- whatever you want to call them -- shot her and left, stole her mother's purse also, and left," McNesby said today.  "Talking to homicide detectives, talking to those that looked at the video, it was probably the worst thing that they saw in their career -- a coward act."

McNesby says if anyone can bring in information on the shooter by midnight Sunday, their share of the reward will be doubled to $20,000.  The tipline number to call is 215-686-8477, or you can call homicide detectives directly at 215-686-3334.
