Peyton Manning On Hand As Todd Helton Inducted Into Colorado Sports Hall Of Fame

DENVER (CBS4) - Former Colorado Rockies great Todd Helton was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday and his buddy Peyton Manning was in attendance.

Manning was named the Pro Athlete of the Year.

Helton says he's really enjoying retirement and he's happy Manning came to Denver.

"Peyton, it's good to have you in town, buddy, I really enjoy you being here. You're fun to watch. I appreciate it," Helton told Manning during his speech. "You know, I really haven't felt retired, that's the crazy thing. I've been so busy -- until I tried to get into a suit tonight. That kind of did me in a little bit. I'm like, 'I have to start working out a little bit more.' "

"(It's) pretty cool to be here. One of my best friends Todd Helton being honored; it won't be the last hall of fame he's inducted into, in my opinion. He's been a big help to me in my transition here to Denver."

Helton was the Rockies' first-round draft pick out of the University of Tennessee where he also played quarterback for the football team and was replaced by Manning after suffering a knee injury. The rest is history.
