Woman Killed After Being Struck By Garbage Truck In Berkley

BERKLEY (WWJ) - Berkley police and Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal accident that happened Wednesday night on 11 Mile Road at Woodward Avenue.

Deputy Chief Robert North says the accident happened around 8:30 when a 61-year-old woman was hit and killed by a garbage truck that was headed westbound on 11 Mile.

Police haven't said if the victim was a resident of Berkley.

Woodward and 11 Mile border between the cities of Berkley and Royal Oak, as well as Huntington Woods.

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact the Berkley police or Michigan State Police.
