Police: Subway Employee Tied Up In Armed Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are investigating after a Subway employee was tied up during an armed robbery in Alexandria Sunday night.

At approximately 8:52 p.m., Alexandria Police responded to the call of an armed robbery at the Subway, located on 902 Broadway St.

Police learned that at 8:30 p.m., a man entered the back door of Subway while brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect then ordered an employee at gunpoint to open the till and remove the cash, police said.

The suspect then took the employee to the back store room where the employee's ankles and hands were bound. The employee did suffer injuries from an assault and was treated at the Douglas County emergency room and later released.

There was no one else in the restaurant. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

Police say they are now following up on numerous leads.
