Top Easter Events For Kids In South Florida

Easter is meaningful for many families. Some see it as an opportunity for their children to participate in parades, hunts and meet the Easter Bunny while others prefer a more subdued Easter that focuses on the religious aspects of the holiday. South Florida has activities for each of these families including events that are educational as well as exciting. So hop on over to your local neighborhood event or attend an egg-cellent eggstravaganza that your child will never forget.

Bunny Palooza at the Miami Seaquarium is great for parents who need flexibility or for children who can't enough of a good thing. The event last three days and features multiple daily egg hunts, five acres of rides and activities, live shows starring Lolita and Flipper and an appearance by the Easter Bunny. The highlight of the event is South Florida's largest Easter Parade, which runs at 12:30 p.m. daily. It's an Easter event that has everything.

Egg Hunt and International Multi-Ethnic Festival

South Florida has a booming Hispanic and Haitian population and in celebration of that fact, the City of Davie is holding its 34th Annual Egg Hunt and International Multi-Ethnic Festival. The event is for the whole family but features free kid-friendly events like a hay ride, animal farm, bounce houses and a 30-foot slide. Parents can choose to pay for a picture with Peter Cottontail who will be arriving in style in a fire truck. The hunt begins at 10 a.m. and all children participating from ages eight and under will receive free candy. Concessions and multi-ethnic art displays are also part of this great family activity so your child can learn and play as well.

The Pinecrest Gardens Eggstravaganza is presented by the Miami Herald and Williamson Cadillac Buick GMC and features a full day of kid-approved events. General admission is only $5 with members attending for free and parking is available at Pinecrest Elementary, Pinecrest Middle School and Miami Palmetto Senior High School. Once there, the Pinecrest People Mover will shuttle you and your children off for a day of Easter egg hunts, wildlife shows, face painting, magic shows and more. It's money well spent for an organized event and concessions will be on hand so you won't have to pack a lunch.

Not all Easter activities are jam-packed with activities. The Easter Brunch at Fairchild is for the family that wants to celebrate the holiday sans Easter Bunny and appreciate time together. The event is held in the Visitor Center Ballroom and features food prepared by Creative Tastes Catering and Events Productions. Reservations are required and you have to call ahead for menu and pricing. Spaces fill up quickly so book early to have a positively peaceful Easter Sunday morning.

Zoo Miami took the hunt part of Easter egg hunt literally and decided to throw its annual Great Zoo Miami Egg Safari. For the cost of regular admission, your child can hunt for eggs among the wildlife and enjoy other activities like a rock wall and giveaways. Then they can peruse the rest of the park and marvel at crocodiles, lions, tigers, bears and more. Of course, the real animal they'll want to see is the Easter Bunny. So stop in for a roaring good time.
