Shocker: Another Convenience Store Beat Out Wawa For America's Favorite

By Chelsea Karnash

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's no secret that Philadelphians -- and South Jerseyans -- have a cult-like fervor for Wawa, but sadly, it's NOT the country's favorite convenience store.

That honor, shockingly, goes to QuikTrip. And if you've never heard of it, that's because the retailer is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma and its only locations are on the western half of the United States. And because let's be real, if there's a Wawa within 20 miles, you're never going to get a hoagie anywhere else.

So, where did Wawa rank? The beloved chain came in second place, with a 74% satisfaction vote (compared to 79% for QuikTrip).

And if you still think that silver medal is blasphemy, rest assured that Wawa came in tops for both food and coffee quality. It also earned the number one spot for its "amenities," beating out rival Sheetz.

According to Market Force Information, which conducted the research, the results were gleaned from the responses of more than 5,000 consumers polled in 2012 about their convenience store habits.

It's not clear where, exactly, the 26% of dissatisfied Wawa customers are hiding.
