It's Back To School Day In Michigan

METRO DETROIT (WWJ)  There was no sleeping in for students across metro Detroit today -- After a three month vacation, it was back to class.

Some took it better than others.

"I'm nervous a little bit," said Summer Begrith, an eighth grader in Farmington Hills, telling WWJ's Rob Dewey she's happy to spend time with friends again. August got a little boring, she admitted.

Mom, though, wasn't exactly overjoyed with happiness about school starting again. "(It's) back to all the schedules, and all the crazy, crazy football and cheer and everything all at once," Pam Begrith said.

Christine Arnold's twin sons are going back to middle school in the eighth grade in Farmington Hills.

"They're going to the same school that they went to last year, so not a lot of change this year," she said, adding the step up to high school next year will "bring some added pressure."

Her son Josh Arnold says on this first day back, he's all "nerves and excitement."

What does he look forward to the most? "Just seeing my friends," he said. "

Cornell Wheeler said he had fun this summer, but he's looking forward to seventh grade starting today. He said he's trying to improve his grades and cut out tardiness. "I'm ready for the challenge," he said.
