Arlington Home Targeted In Drive-By Shooting
ARLINGTON (CBS) – Arlington police say there was a drive-by shooting in town overnight.
A home on Old Colony Road and a car in the driveway were hit, though no one was hurt.
Police said as many as seven rounds were fired.
An elderly couple lives in the house. They were in a back bedroom at the time of the shooting.
"We believe this wasn't a random act," Arlington Police Captain Richard Flynn told reporters Wednesday afternoon.
"It's a quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood is safe. We want to get that point across."
Sources told WBZ-TV's Bill Shields that the man who was the target of the gunfire was involved in an argument earlier in the night at a nearby Knights of Columbus.
According to those sources, the man returned home and was inside when the shots were fired soon after.
Residents were surprised to hear about the incident in what is an otherwise quiet Arlington Heights neighborhood.
"It is bizarre. That's the perfect word for it. There's no need for this," one neighbor told Shields.
Police have spoken to several people about the incident, but as of Wednesday night no arrests have been made.
