Woman To Be Arraigned Today After Naked High-Speed Chase On Wrong Side Of Expressway

CLARE COUNTY (CBS Detroit) An arraignment is expected today in 80th District Court in Harrison, Mich., for a woman who allegedly led police on a naked high-speed chase going the wrong way on the freeway.

Police say the woman, 23, left behind her also-naked husband and small daughter at an area rest stop when she struck out in the car. Officers were called when she was spotted in a red Chevy Blazer traveling the wrong way at high speeds, Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski told The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant

The woman was traveling 85 miles an hour southbound in the northbound lanes at about 4:30 a.m., dodging traffic, police told CBS Detroit. Officers added she was lucky several times that she wasn't killed by oncoming traffic.

While she was driving, her naked 32-year-old husband and their daughter were stranded at the Mackie Welcome Center on U.S. 127.

Deputies unsuccessfully tried to use stop sticks to halt her; eventually, she stopped and ran naked from the vehicle, police said.

Deputies nabbed her and learned she had left her husband and child behind. It's unknown why the entire family was naked.

The child was turned over to a third party for care while the woman was charged with fleeing and eluding, child abuse and indecent exposure. Her husband was charged with indecent exposure and child abuse.
