Brief Thunderstorm Leaves Thousands In The Dark

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A severe weather storm blew through much of the area Saturday leaving thousands without power.

Around 20,000 utility customers didn't have power at one point as powerful storms swept through the Delaware Valley Saturday evening.

They were fast moving storms, but they made an impact.

South Jersey saw the worst of it, Camden County in particular said Brooke Houston with PSE&G.

"The areas of Cherry Hill and Voorhees were the hardest hit," she said. "You know it was the hail, high winds, trees came down on wires."

She said if you come across a downed wire, always play it safe.

"Stay away from downed wires, report them, if a downed wire falls on your car, stay in your car and call 9-1-1 and wait for first responders to arrive."

In Magnolia, it was a tree that fell on a woman's car. She had to be rescued and wasn't hurt.

Flooding also suspended service on New Jersey's Riverline.
