Chester Pet Owner Faces Charges For Leaving Pets Out In The Heat

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Chester pet owner is facing serious charges for leaving her pets stranded in the summer heat when she went on vacation.
A humane officer was looking in on a home where two dogs had been left outside in last week's sweltering conditions.
"He saw a large-sized dog that was curled up in the middle of the yard, chained to a cinder block. And as he got closer he saw the dog was actually seizing and then he arrested and passed away right in front of our humane officers eyes. It was very, very upsetting," explained Justina Calgiano, a spokeswoman for the Providence Animal Center in Delaware County.
Three pitbull terrier puppies, a bearded dragon, and fish were rescued from the filthy Chester home. They're now receiving medical care as officials search for permanent homes and donations to help pay for the weeks of treatment they'll need.
