21 Arrested Following March For Philando Castile
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two weeks after his death, protesters continue to demand justice in the fatal shooting of Philando Castile.
Hundreds took to the streets Tuesday night in downtown Minneapolis.
"I'm standing alongside our brothers and sisters that are teachers and educators to stand up for black lives," Amber Jones, with Neighborhoods Organizing for Change, said.
Educators with the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, as well as members of Black Lives Matter, marched through downtown in the middle of the evening rush hour.
They were protesting, in part, Castile's death. He was shot and killed by a St. Anthony Police officer during a traffic stop two weeks ago.
Castile worked for the St. Paul Public School District since he was 19. He was most recently a cafeteria supervisor at J.J. Hill Montessori School.
Twenty-one protesters were arrested for blocking an intersection after being asked to leave.
