Top South Florida Biking Spots

Summer is almost over and slightly less hotter weather is on the way, making it a great time to go biking. These five destinations are perfect spots to go biking. They are located throughout the South Florida area. Each with their own unique views and trails!

Bahia Honda State Park

This island paradise makes for a beautiful and scenic place to go biking. It is located at mile marker 37 in the Florida Keys. It's scenic, quiet and offers tons to do, making it the perfect hidden destination.The bike trails are more than 3-1/2 miles of hard surface road and runs the entire length of Bahia Honda State Park. They also offer plenty of other fun activities to make it a whole day of fun; such as, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, swimming and more. Oleta River State Park

This park is not only Florida's largest urban park but it is conveniently located near North Miami Beach, making it an ideal place to quickly escape to for a quick bike ride. This park is actually best known for it's bicycling trails, that range in difficulty from novice to challenging. The trails provide views of a variety of native plants and wildlife, including their stunning mangrove forest preserves. Visit their website for more information and directions.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

In addition to the Cape Florida Lighthouse, this park offers some beautiful biking trails. There are roughly 1.5 miles of paved bike paths plus several unpaved service roads bikers can use at the park. Some paths are more secluded in the trees and others offer gorgeous views of Biscayne Bay. Be sure to also check out the multiple dining options at the park as well like, Lighthouse Cafe or Boater's Grill which both provide astounding views. Everglades National Park

No outdoor list in South Florida would be complete without the Everglades National Park. This massive park provides an abundance of biking trails, each with various levels of difficulty. According to their website, some of the better biking trails are on Shark Valley, Snake Bight Trail near Flamingo and Long Pine Key Nature Trail. Markham Park Mountain Bike Trail System

One can tell from the name along that this is one of the top places for mountain bikers to go in South Florida. In fact only mountain bikes are allowed on these trails! It's located in Sunrise, FL with 11 miles of trails that range in difficulty from mild to 'wild'. Unlike many state run parks on this list, Markham Park is 100 percent funded and run by a 'very small dedicated group of volunteer workers'. Visit their website for more details.
