Bullet Strikes North Side School Building During Summer Classes
(CBS) -- A terrifying day at summer school on the North Side.
Hundreds of kids were in class when bullets struck the Uptown school Christopher House and a man who was walking outside.
CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports.
At least 20 children were on the playground when shots were fired from a car Friday morning in the 4700 block of North Winthrop. The children range in age from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
A bullet hole could be observed in a second-floor window. School officials alerted parents about the incident and assured them no children had been harmed.
"It could have easily been a child here today and that's what's so scary," neighbor James Gardner says.
The 19-year-old shooting victim is expected to make a full recovery.
No suspects are in custody.
Administrators say there will be added security and precautions taken Monday when classes resume.
