Over A Dozen NJ Beaches Under An Advisory For Elevated Bacteria Counts

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ (CBS) -- Over a dozen beaches in Ocean and Monmouth Counties are under an advisory today for bacteria.

According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, swimming advisories warn the public of unhealthy water conditions.

Advisories are issued for any initial sample that exceeds the state standard.

Officials will close the beach if two consecutive samples collected at a bathing beach exceed the standard.

The following beaches are under advisories in Monmouth County: Deal Casino, Phillips Ave, Laird, North Bath, East Main, Inlet Surfing Beach, Riverside Dr., Pavilion Beach, Rumson Road and Public Beach.

In Ocean County, the following beaches are under advisories: Beachwood Beach West, Windward Beach, Summit, Brooklyn, Anglesea, Wildwood, West Beach Avon Road, East Beach Station Ave, Hancock and Shelter Cove.
