Weather Blog: Hermine's Impacts Approaching

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hermine is still a Tropical Storm and is moving East-Northeast off the North Carolina coast with 60 mph winds. Hermine will continue to track northeast off the mid-Atlantic coast today and then slow down during the day on Sunday. The storm will then linger off the mid-Atlantic coast through Tuesday allowing the biggest impacts to be along the coast.

Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect for far southern and eastern New Jersey and Delaware this weekend.

Winds: Winds will continue to increase along the coast today and gust to 35 mph this afternoon and up to 45 mph tonight with the potential for widespread power outages. On Sunday, winds will gust 50-60 mph along the coast, and up to 25 mph farther inland near Philly. On Monday, wind gusts could still be high as 40-50 mph along the coast.

Coastal Flooding: Minor to Moderate coastal flooding will begin around high tide tonight along the New Jersey and Delaware coasts and back bays and continue at times of high tide through at least Monday. Expect high surf and beach erosion to continue through at least Monday.

Rainfall: Rain chances, mainly near the coast will begin to increase this afternoon and continue through Monday. Latest indications show the heaviest rainfall has shifted farther offshore, however 2"+ of rain is still possible along the immediate coast. This will bring lesser chances of rain far inland areas. Little if any rain is possible from Philly on North and West.
