Following Railing Collapse In Camden, Night Two Show Takes The Stage

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- Camden officials are working with BB&T Pavilion management to investigate a railing collapse that injured dozens of concertgoers Friday night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m., as rappers Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dog were on stage.

"The whole wave, everybody fell down, everybody was crushed. It was horrible," said Lizzy Ford, whose friend was hurt in the collapse.

Cell phone video captured the moment a three-foot railing, designed to keep people safe, gave way and sent dozens crashing to the ground.

"It was traumatic," Ford said. "I couldn't sleep all night thinking about all the people that got hurt. There was blood on my arms, it was pretty gross."

In all 42 people were hurt. Camden officials called the injuries minor, but witnesses described a scene covered in blood and open wounds.

"I saw one guy who was touching his face and this part of the head was open," said Pedro Gomez of Spain.

"My friend's foot got stuck under the gate and I was trying to get him out and then I was trying to get this other girl out," Ford said. "When I was pulling her out, the bone of her knee was sticking out of her."

Live Nation, which operates the BB&T Pavilion, said in a statement that it is working with authorities and structural engineers to determine the cause of the collapse.

After securing the affected railing section, the venue opened its doors to long lines for the "I Love the 90's" concert Saturday night.

People attending the concert expressed concern for the victims, but said they're not worried about another accident.

All of the people hurt were out of the hospital as of Saturday afternoon.

Wiz Khalifa tweeted Saturday in part, "Hope everyone from last night is alright."
