Donald Trump Greeted By Cheers And Jeers During Chicago-Area Visit

(CBS) -- Donald Trump made two Chicago-area stops today--an invitation-only rally and an invitation-only fundraiser--greeted by both admiring supporters and hectoring protesters, CBS 2 Political Reporter Derrick Blakley reports.

During a rally at the Polish American Congress on the Northwest Side Trump supporters heard his pledge.

"I pledge to you a Trump Administration will be a true friend to Poland and to all Polish Americans," Trump said.

He talked up cutting immigration, cutting taxes and regulations, and creating jobs.

"I will be the greatest president for jobs that God ever created. That I can tell you," Trump added.

Quite different than the welcome Trump received in the Southwest suburbs, where anti-Trump protesters chanted "Never Trump."

They ridiculed the GOP nominee, musically comparing him to Darth Vader, while accusing him of spreading hate.

"It's not fair for him to be anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, anti-minimum wage and anti-woman," Tyree Johnson of the Fight for $15 Campaign says.

Trump opponents were met by a smaller cadre of staunch supporters.

"If you had to support these people coming across the border, how would you feel? Food, housing, education, and they're getting it for free," a Trump supporter said.

"I'm working hard. This morning I was up at 3 a.m. doing homework. I am here. In two hours, I'm going to work. I'm just as American as anybody," another Trump opponent said.
