Police: 12-Year-Old Behind Threatening Clown Post In Bensalem

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Bensalem say a 12-year-old is responsible for a threatening social media post on Instagram relating to clowns.

Authorities say the post by "BENSALEM Clowns" depicted pictures of a gun, knife and needle and stated "BENSALEM CLOWN we are coming Shafer and Snyder Tick Tock."

Shafer and Snyder are middle schools in Bensalem Township.

Police say many were alarmed by the post and authorities increased police activity around the schools.

The Bucks County DA's Office approved charges of terroristic threats and harassment for the social media threats.

The 12-year-old student will face the charges in addition to school district discipline.

Bensalem Police say there was never a viable threat and no students or staff were ever in danger.

Police will continue to have a strong presence in and around the Bensalem School District facilities.
