Uniontown Woman Gives Birth To Identical Triplets

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- It's very rare for a mother to come home from the hospital with triplets, but identical triplets? A Uniontown woman approaches lottery-winning odds.

Kishauna Rose has to check the hospital bracelet to make sure which infant daughter she's tending to. Little Kilaiah is an exact match with her sisters, Kinya and Kiyelle.

The expectant mother thought she had twins when she visited her doctor in Uniontown, a few months back.

"We were doing the regular sonogram and stuff, and then right before I was about to leave, she told me she saw another head," Rose said. "And I'm like, you gotta be kidding me."

But she says the doctor wasn't joking.

"I didn't think that my little self could carry triplets, but I did!" she said.

She carried them all the way to Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, where the blessed event -- make that, events -- took place Sept. 9.

Just about everyone thinks their kids are one in a million. But the Rose triplets really are. Only a handful of triplets are born from a single egg each year in the U.S. To make this case even more unusual, their mother says, "My doctor explained to me that it's spontaneous and natural, because usually the triplets that she delivers are fertility treatment. And that wasn't fertility treatment, it was natural."

The former mother of three is now the mother of six. But 3-year-old daughter Kamora has promised to help out. Though the babies each weighed four pounds plus at birth, Kishauna Rose says, "They all made it. Healthy. Came home the same day I came home. No one had to stay. It was great."

All's well that begins well.

"It's exciting," the mother of triplets says. "A happy moment for me and my family."
