Harry Caray Called It: 'Someday The Chicago Cubs Are Going To Be In The World Series'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Many Cubs fans have never stopped believing the team will make it to a World Series. And just as they can taste the victory now, legendary Cubs announcer Harry Caray believed years ago.

At the conclusion of the Chicago Cubs' final game of the 1991 season against the St. Louis Cardinals, Caray shared touching words foreshadowing this very day.

"Well, a lot of things happened today, and they were all great and they were all thrilling and they were all dramatic," he begins with his touching soliloquy at the 29-second mark of a YouTube video posted by user edrx000.

"Sure as God made green apples, someday, the Chicago Cubs are going to be in the World Series -- and maybe sooner than you think," Caray added.

Cubs-Indians: How they stack up

On Oct. 6, 1991, the Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-3. But finishing the year below .500 and ranking fourth in the National League East with a 77-3 record wasn't enough to make a pennant push.

Now, Caray's words from that day have come alive, as the Cubs will face the Indians in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
