Top Running Clubs In Philadelphia

On your mark. Get set. Go! Lace up those running shoes. If you are looking to join a running club there is a group in Philadelphia for pretty much any person. Whether training for a race, working on getting back into shape or looking to share a common experience with friends, there is a club looking for you.

Founded in 2014, Conshy Running is a free, open running community that meets three times every week for group runs. The organization promotes three important training runs that every participant should have in their training regiment: just runs, long runs and speedwork. Their main group meets every Thursday at 6:30pm at the Conshohocken Brewing Company for a large group run down the scenic Schuylkill River Trail. Sunday at 10am, the group sponsors a long run at the Schuylkill River Trail at the Cross County Trail and travels to other local running spots. Tuesday evenings at 6:30 the group works on speed workouts designed to help runners achieve a variety of running goals from 5k to marathon.

The South Jersey club supports running events for all ages while promoting a healthy running lifestyle. Thursday night is Fun Run night as participants take on a three-mile course while walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the activities. The Breakfast Run is held the third Saturday of each month at 7:30am where participants can run or walk and breath in the fresh air and beautiful trails before enjoying breakfast. Every Tuesday evening is dedicated to speedwork and building strength and stamina.

Make no mistake about this dedicated group of runners. They are committed to running, motivation and socialization. On every Thursday evening you can connect with the group at the Delcast Recreational Area regardless of weather conditions. "The group started when Pike Creek Valley Running Club decided to form a Half-Marathon Training group in 2003". Members include beginners as well as experienced runners. Whether you are looking to achieve that "runner's high," improve your time or train for a major race, tie up those sneakers and participate with family and friends.

This program is running with a different purpose. While kids love to run, this group takes a pre-teen and teenager's desire to run and engages them with volunteer mentors or "Running Leaders" with the goal of creating positive and lasting relationships. Since its beginning more than a decade ago, Students Run Philly Style has served more than 4,000 students from neighborhoods across Philadelphia by encouraging participants to create positive and long-term relationships with adults who are concerned about and invested in their well-being.

Philadelphia is a city of neighborhoods and just like every community there is a group for you. That is the case with the Fairmount Running Club. They sponsor a free Wednesday night group run that leaves from Fairmount Avenue. While the trail may change from week to week, there is fun for all. The club also stages special events at least once a month. The group is an all-skills running club and is open to all runners regardless of skill-set.
