Hillary Clinton Seeks Big Bucks At Chicago Fundraisers

(CBS/AP) -- For a second consecutive day, one of the two major-party candidates for president was in the Chicago area.

Democrat Hillary Clinton made stops at two private Chicago fundraisers, one day after Donald Trump raised money in Bolingbrook.

The first, at which individual tickets cost $2,700 and a table $33,400, took place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago hotel. The second, a stop at the Gold Coast home of ContextMedia CEO Rishi Shah was priced even higher --- $50,000 a plate or $150,000 to co-sponsor.

The media were barred from both appearances.  But Clinton spoke with pool reporters at Midway Airport.

She shrugged off Trump's reference at a New Hampshire campaign stop to her husband's impeachment, saying, "He can say whatever he wants to say," and said she intends to keep "talking about what I think the American people are interested in."

Clinton told reporters a Newsweek report alleging that Trump may have violated the Cuban trade embargo in the late 1990s is more evidence that he puts his interests ahead of the country's.

And one day after Libertarian Gary Johnson could not name one world leader he respects in a cable television interview, Clinton said she has lots of favorite world leaders.

She singled out German Chancellor Angela Merkel, saying, "Her leadership and steadiness on the Euro crisis and her bravery in the face of the refugee crisis is something that I am impressed by," adding that she hoped to work with Merkel.
