Person Found Dead After House Fire In Unincorporated Glen Ellyn

(CBS) -- A person was found dead after a house fire Monday morning in west suburban Glen Ellyn.

Crews responded to the fire in the Valley View subdivision in the 22W500 block of Tamarack Drive in Glen Ellyn about 4 a.m., according to the DuPage County sheriff's and coroner's offices.

The one-story home was engulfed in flames, authorities said. After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters entered the house and found one person dead.

The person, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:45 a.m., according to the coroner's office. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot learns from authorities that the person who died was a middle-aged man.

There is no indication that a gas explosion contributed to the blaze, authorities say.

The DuPage County Arson Task Force is leading the investigation and the state fire marshal has appeared on the scene.

Also happening in the same area this morning about an hour before the blaze, the DuPage County Police arrested five people who were involved in 30 vehicle burglaries in the area of Route 33 and Butterfield Road.

Police say the fire that happened and the 30 burglaries are not connected.
