Maryland Man Beaten To Death In Toronto

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --  Toronto Police say a man from Maryland has died after being brutally beaten outside of a Toronto Bar.

Police say 26-year-old Julian Jones was reportedly in Canada with close friends for a bachelor party.

It happened at 2:25 a.m. Saturday morning, as police were called in for report of an assault.

According to the police, the man, now identified as Julian Jones, received life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Toronto Police say a group of men, visiting from the U.S.A., were at a function in the College Street and Manning Avenue area in the Little Italy area of town, when he was attacked outside of Toronto nightclub BLND TGER, when there was a a second group of 7-9 men, some of whom attacked a man, now identified as Jones, who was part of the first group.

Police say they believe Jones did not provoke the men who attacked him. The suspects fled the scene. Police have descriptions for the public to look out for two of the male suspects, although there could be as many as nine suspects involved.

Jones' friends have now had to make the somber trip back to the US minus one friend, in what was supposed to be a celebration of an upcoming marriage and it turned into a tragedy.

"We are currently looking to identify 7 to 9 males. In that group we believe are two suspects, they fled southbound on manning ave towards Dundas Street," said Detective North.

But police believe they soon may be able to identify the men involved.

"We have some security video that we will be releasing in the next day or two, that will clearly identify who those people are and we will seek those people out," said Detective North.

As the investigation continues friends are learning of the American's death on a trip that was meant to be a celebration. According to Jones' facebook page, he was studying law at the University of Baltimore, and had a fiance.

His friend, Nick Thompson shares on social media: "Yesterday I found out one of my best friends left this world ... Love you buddy, and you will never be forgotten."
