10 Highest Paid New York/New Jersey Athletes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Yoenis Cespedes' new four-year, $110 million contract makes him the highest paid athlete in local team sports.

His average salary of $27.5 million matches what former Yankee Alex Rodriguez was paid (actually, still is being paid) as part of the 10-year, $275 million deal he signed in 2007.

Here is a look at the top 10 richest NYC-area athletes today based on the average salary of their current contracts.
