Norristown Attorney Accused Of Rape Takes The Stand In Trial

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- The longtime Norristown attorney and son of a late Superior Court judge is taking the stand in his own defense at his trial on accusations he raped a client while she was passed out drunk.

Fifty-seven-year-old Vincent Cirillo spent the entire day on the stand, and will be back on Tuesday morning. On direct examination, he testified there was never intercourse, only oral sex. He testifies his accuser was receptive and active but then fell asleep immediately after.

He says he took pictures of her asleep and only her underwear because in his words, she was so beautiful and pretty and peaceful.

In a contenscious cross examination, prosecutor Stew Ryan pressed Cirillo on inconsistencies between his testimony, statements to police, and in a recorded conversation with his accuser. Ryan also asking why Cirillo didn't tell police information he now testifies was very important, such as his accuser showing him naked photos earlier in the evening.

Cirillo says he was stunned during his interview with police, as he puts it "in shock that (she) would do something like this to me."
