Christie: Winter Storm Turned Out To Be 'Under Performer'
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie says a winter storm that was expected to drop several inches of snow across New Jersey turned out to be an "under performer."
But he's still urging residents to stay off the roads so crews can continue their cleanup efforts, especially in northern Jersey.
Christie has lifted a state of emergency he issued Monday afternoon, when forecasters were predicting a monster storm. But the system's track changed slightly, so central and southern areas saw mostly rain.
The storm did drop double-digit snow amounts across northern Jersey before it departed the region.
The Republican governor says most people who lost power during the storm should have it restored by Wednesday morning at the latest. He also said state offices will reopen on Wednesday.
