Trenton Mom Burned Baby With Cigarette, Police Say

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS)--A 23-year-old Trenton mother is facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a child after police say she burned her baby with a cigarette.

Police say Vanessa Owens sent several text messages saying she was going to physically hurt and burn her baby.

She also sent a picture of the baby with a lit cigarette next to the child's face.

When police arrived they noticed burn marks on the baby's face.

The infant  is now being cared for by the state.
