Man Arrested For Rape And Assault In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police have arrested a man in connection with a rape and an assault, of two females officials believe to be a mother and daughter, which took place in Frankford on Tuesday. Police announced that Malik Bailey was arrested on Wednesday.

Police say that a 13-year-old girl said that she was sexually assaulted by her stepfather, Bailey. The incident took place on the 1900 block of Pratt Street. The girl was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for treatment.

Bailey was arrested by U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Philadelphia Special Victim's Unit detectives at Mckean and Water Streets in South Philadelphia.

Officials say that detectives ordered Bailey to the ground when he fled on foot. Deputy Marshals chased Bailey and police say a brief struggle took place which ended with Bailey's apprehension in a store parking lot.

Authorities say that Bailey was wanted for the sexual assault of both the 13-year-old teenager and a 38-year-old woman.

Police say that on the night of the incident, they observed a 38-year-old woman in the home, in a second floor bedroom, who had suffered severe trauma to her face and was missing several teeth. Authorities add that she was semi-conscious and could not speak when she was found.

She was placed in critical condition at Einstein Hospital.
