Police: 3-Year-Old Fatally Shot In Delaware County
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA (CBS) -- A Delaware county community was rocked, as a medical examiner removed the body of a three year old boy from his home.
"My dog woke me up. When I came outside, the stretcher was in my driveway," said Steven Potts.
Potts was the next door neighbor of the toddler who died.
Adolphus Adams was the Great-Grandfather.
"He's a child, he's a baby, you know what I mean, he had so much potential. There's no word for this all," said Adams
The Great-Grandfather, struggling to find the words express the pain everyone in his family is feeling.
"I'm just blown away. I can't say anything. I'm not sure what happened here. I know, he's gone," added Adams.
According to police, they were called to the home at the corner of Bethel Road and Green Street, in Chester township, around 3:30 in the afternoon.

The mother of a 3 year old told authorities, her son got a hold of a 9mm gun, that was in a second floor bedroom of the home. While the little boy had the gun, it went off.
He shots himself once in the chest.
Authorities say the bullet went straight through the toddler's body.
Emergency responder tried to revive to toddler, but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene.
"It's terrible. It's truly terrible that I situation like this could happen," said Chester Township Council Chairman Calvin Vernerd, "From what I am being told the gun was under the bed. I can't believe that a child will be able to gain access to a gun under the bed."
At this point in the investigation police are trying to determine if the 9 mm gun was in a lock box or not and, if it was, how the child was able to still get in it?
