Fire Department: 11-Year-Old Girl Loses Leg After Getting Struck By Train

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A young girl lost her leg after getting hit by a train in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Fire Department says an 11-year-old girl was struck by the train shortly after 2 p.m. at 56th Street and Grays Avenue.

The fire department says she lost her right leg and her left leg was crushed.

Police say the girl was walking with her friends along an area of the tracks that was off limits when she lost her footing and fell under a slow-moving train.

She was dragged more then 500 feet before the train came to a stop.

She was taken to Children's Hospital in critical condition.
