Train Derailment Site In Sellersville Under Control

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) – A major accident scene is under control after three cars of a 23-car freight train carrying butter derailed in Sellersville, Pa. on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department urges people not to go around the yellow warning tape set up at numerous locations around the derailment.

They also asked for patience when navigating through the borough.

"We realize there are other closures due to road work but please be respectful to the fire police that have closed down other roads," the department said via a Facebook post.

According to authorities in Bucks County, the accident happened at 2:37 p.m. and the train cars that overturned spilled out its content.

There have been no reported injuries.

Authorities were asking residents not to approach the scene of the derailment because "there can be many hazards related to an incident of this nature."

Officials said 17 cars were carrying propane, but they didn't derail, but there was a leak of diesel fuel used by the refrigerated cars.

There was no immediate word on what may have caused the derailment.
