Fire Rips Through Roof Of Bronx Apartment Building
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A large fire tore through the roof of a building in the Bronx on Monday morning.
The blaze broke out at around 11:30 a.m. on the top floor of six-story building on East 208th Street in the Norwood section, according to the Fire Department.
It quickly grew into a 3-alarm blaze.
Firefighters could be seen on the roof of the structure with pillars smoke and flames rising high nearby. Firefighters cut holes in portions of the roof to help ventilate it and get better access to the fire.
One civilian and two firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to the FDNY.
"Basically it was the top floor and the underside of the roof in the residential section... basically three apartments suffered damage," said FDNY Chief Joe Saccente.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
