Veterans Day Ceremonies In South Florida

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – South Florida will honor our military veterans Monday at a number of events around Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Broward

Pembroke Pines: A ceremony honoring veterans will be held at noon Monday at the City Center, 10300 Pines Blvd.

Coconut Creek: Pay tribute to those who served our country to protect our freedom on Monday at 11 a.m at the Veterans Park (3550 Lyons Road) or at Recreation Complex ( 4455 Sol Press Boulevard).

Fort Lauderdale: Join the William C. Morris American Legion Post 36 at a Veterans Day Ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, barbecue at the American Legion Post 36, located at 1620 Marina Boulevard. Guest Speakers will include Mayor John P. "Jack" Seiler, Commissioner Chip LaMarca and Commissioner Tim Ryan.

Sunrise: The city will honor military veterans with a 21-gun salute and presentation of colors on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sunrise Civic Center Amphitheater, 10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Hallandale Beach: Ceremony begins at 9:00am at the Cemetery, 801 NW 6th Avenue followed by refreshments and Ceremony honoring Veterans at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3rd Street.

Plantation: Elected officials and local dignitaries will be honoring veterans at 9:30 a.m. at the Plantation Veterans Park , 1776 Lauderdale West Drive

Tamarac: Ceremony and veterans assembly from 10:30 a.m. through noon on Monday at Veterans' Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd.

Hollywood: Stop by the Greater Hollywood YMCA Family Center and show your support to the brave men and women who have served our country starting at 10 a.m. located at 3161 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33021

Margate: Join the City of Margate in honoring and thanking military veterans for their dedicated and loyal service to our country on Monday, November 11th at 10:30 A.M., at Veteran's Memorial Park, 7044 N.W. 1st Street (S.E. corner of Rock Island Road and N.W. 1st Street). The ceremony will include the marching of color guard units, the singing of the national anthem, a keynote speaker from the United States Southern Command, invocation prayer, a presentation of awards to our elementary school essay contest winners, a live band, rifle salute, taps, and complimentary refreshments.

Miami-Dade

Aventura: Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10 AM at the Aventura Government Center, 19200 West Country Club Dr. The free event features participation from veterans groups, patriotic performances by the Aventura City of Excellence School chorus, a World War II display and a guest speaker from the United States Southern Command. Event is free.

Miami Beach: Veterans Day parade is at 9 a.m. Parade along Washington Avenue begins at 17 Street and turns west at 11 Street into Flamingo Park. 10 a.m. through noon: Ceremony & Picnic, Flamingo Park Baseball Stadium (15 Street and Michigan Avenue).

North Miami: 10 a.m. at North Miami Veterans Monument Griffing Park, 12220 Griffing Blvd. Free ceremony features the participation of local Veterans organizations and the North Miami Police Department Honor Guard and Rifle Team, Miami Union Academy Choir and Hands at Work for Christ.

North Miami Beach: North Miami Beach is holding a special Veterans Day service to pay tribute to the veterans who have served our Country and those who continue to preserve our freedom at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the All Wars Memorial Park, 16500 NE 16th Ave.

Surfside: Free event features a presentation of colors, local Boy and Girl Scout Troops and guest speakers on Monday, 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Park, 8791 Collins Ave..

Coral Gables: On Monday, University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala, will host a Veteran's Day ceremony from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Rock in front of the UM Bookstore at 1306 Stanford Dr.

Hialeah: Honor those men and women who have fought for the freedom of this great Country at Hialeah's Triangle Park located on Palm Avenue and Okeechobee Road. The ceremony will take place Monday, November 11th beginning at 11:00 a.m.
