New Rankings Out For Healthiest Counties In NY, NJ, CT

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Is your county the healthiest in your state? Well, a new survey will answer that question.

Starting in New York, Putnam County has taken the top spot in the new survey from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

It measures factors such as adult smoking and obesity, excessive drinking and the rate of motor vehicle deaths, as well as the quality of clinical care, environmental factors and the violent crime rate.

In Putnam, 8 percent are in poor or fair health.

The least healthy county in New York is Bronx County, where 25 percent are in poor or fair health.

In New Jersey, the healthiest county is Hunterdon, with 9 percent in poor or fair health. The least healthy is Cumberland, at 24 percent.

In Connecticut, the healthiest is Tolland, at 9 percent, and the least healthy is New Haven, at 12 percent.
