Villanova University Closed Through Friday Due To Power And Heat Outage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--According to Villanova University, the school is experiencing a campus wide power and heat outage.

The school says it will be closed for the rest of the day today, including evening classes, as well as on Thursday, February 6 and Friday, February 7. This includes the university's law school.

Villanova says, "Unfortunately, we are not able to get an estimate as to when power to the campus might be restored. This power outage also effects our ability to provide heat to campus buildings."

All campus residents who are able to travel safely were encouraged to head home.

One student says,"I called my parents and they were like why don't you just come home? We're out for three days so I won't be back until Monday for school. I'm heading back to Florida."

But as for those students who can not make it home, Liz Kennedy Walsh says, "We've done a couple of things, probably the most important is is our main dining hall is going to be serving hot food and it is going to be heated with an emergency generator that will be open all night."

Officials say they are doing everything they can to make sure all residents on campus are safe.

Villanova has yet to make a call on their basketball game against Seton Hall on Friday.
