Fins Sign Lamar Miller

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins continued to get all of their 2012 draft picks under contract Monday when the team announced it had signed third-round pick Lamar Miller.

Miller starred at UM in 2011 and was one of the fastest players on the team. In 2011, his only season as a starter, Miller finished second in the ACC with 1,272 yards rushing on 227 carries (5.6 yards per carry) and scored nine touchdowns on the ground.

The Dolphins selected Miller in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft after he was projected by some to be picked as early as the first round.

Miller impressed the Dolphins in rookie mini-camp and could unseat Daniel Thomas as the backup to lead back Reggie Bush. Miller brings some of the same characteristics Bush does to the table and could also find a spot as a punt or kick returner.

The Dolphins still have to get first-round pick quarterback Ryan Tannehill under contract, but that's just a question of finishing off some details about guaranteed money and contract length.
