It may be a mouthful to say, Macworld/iWorld or simply Macworld. However you may call it, thousands of Mac enthusiasts and die hard Apple fans will descend to the SOMA for three days of panels, expo booths and special presentations on the latest tech for Apple.

Much like last year, when the focus shifted from products for the Mac to the latest in mobile apps, this year's program promises to explore and celebrate the creative side of Apple. In the exhibit hall, you will encounter app inventors showing off the latest in thermal imaging for the iPhone, the latest in facial morphing software and new ways to read & watch movies on your iPad. While in the conference rooms, scheduled panels such as "How To Take Control of Your Digital Photos" and ways how to make "Siri" more personable fill up to capacity levels and engage attendees.

Outside of the usual panels and exposition hall, Macworld/iWorld highlights several special events. With the first "6 About to Break" Competition, SF New Tech & Macworld/iWorld reveals the next big app, Apple-related accessory, software/utility poised to break out in the tech marketplace. From mobile, wearables, home automation, 3D and social media, tech companies compete to be part of the "6 About To Break" finalists. An overall winner will be chosen by an all-star panel of judges.

Named the 'Official Photo Sharing App' for the IDG Macworld/iWorld, Trunx is an all-in-one photo app that lets anyone snap, organize and share photos. Attendees can download and use Trunx to capture photos and videos from the show floor and share them in real time with other Apple enthusiasts with a new feature launching at Macworld/iWorld called SharedPix, helping to collaborate all the best moments all in one place.

Two of most cutting-edge mobile innovations for Apple products, iBeacon and Passbook, are sure to enhance attendees' onsite experiences. Attendees to the expo are invited to participate in the first-ever Macworld/iWorld iBeacon Scavenger Hunt, with prizes for all participants. iBeacon, which is native to iPhone 4S (or any later models) running iOS 7, empowers attendees to quickly and effortlessly check-in at the Moscone Center. The theme for the interactive scavenger hunt is "30 Years of the Mac," and through a series of clues found on posters all over the Expo Hall, participants must find and scan four specific 2d barcodes. When an attendee downloads a beacon enabled pass and is in range of a Bleu Station iBeacon, a hint will be presented to find the next beacon-enabled pass. Participants who collect all four beacon-enabled passes will receive a free limited subscription to Macworld Magazine and will be entered into a drawing for a British Isles cruise.

"We are always excited when we get a chance to provide Macworld/iWorld attendees the opportunity to interact with the latest Apple technology at our event," said Paul Kent, general manager of Macworld/iWorld.

The event is run by IDG World Expo, which is owned by IDG, the parent company that owns Macworld magazine.
