Third Man Indicted In Murder Of 13-Year-Old

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A Hennepin County Grand Jury indicted a third man in 2011 shooting death of 13-year-old Rayjon Gomez.

Twenty-six-year-old Kemen Lavatos Taylor, of Robbinsdale, was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Taylor was expected to make his first appearance Friday afternoon. Prosecutors from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office asked for $2 million bail.

The grand jury returned the indictment Thursday afternoon.

Taylor joins Derrick Deangelo Catchings and Donquarius Davon Copeland in facing first-degree murder in the killing of Gomez.

According to the indictment, Taylor, Copeland and Catchings conspired to shoot at Gomez and his two friends, who were riding their bikes in a north Minneapolis alley on Aug. 24, 2011.

One of the other boys was struck by a bullet, but survived. At the time of the shooting, Catchings was 15 and Copeland was 17.
