Delaware County SPCA Looking For Kids To Read To Shelter Cats

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's a symbiotic relationship between homeless animals and young children.

The Delaware County SPCA is inviting young children to participate in its "Smarty Paws" program.

The kids will read books to the cats, which are often stressed in a shelter environment. In turn, the children will get to practice their reading in a judgment-free zone.

The SPCA is holding an information session on the program on Friday, July 11th from 2-5 p.m. Once signed up, sessions will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

For every five completed books, children get a raffle ticket for a prize drawing to be held at the end-of-summer Smarty Paws party.
