Top Broward Schools Officials Resign In Shakeup

BROWARD (CBSMiami) – Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie's administration underwent a jarring shakeup Tuesday.

Broward Schools Facilities Chief Tom Lindner resigned under pressure, after being accused of failing to fix his troubled department and even engaging in "rogue activities," reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Lindner's abrupt departure was given the green light at Tuesday's School Board meeting, and he was not the only top district administrator to leave or be re-assigned at the meeting.

Joanne Harrison, deputy superintendent for educational programs, is resigning, while Gracie Diaz, deputy superintendent for human resources, is being re-assigned to a job overseeing grants.

This second shake-up in Runcie's administration comes just months after the he brought on board several colleagues from Chicago Public Schools, where he used to work.
