Police Name 3 Suspects -- Including Father And Son -- In Irvine Man's Murder

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana Police Department homicide detectives have named three suspects -- including a father and son -- in a March 9th murder.

Officers responded to a call of subjects fighting in the 1900 block of S. Main. Upon arrival, they found a male victim lying on the sidewalk at Main and Commercial with an apparent stab wound to his chest.

The male victim, identified as 26-year-old Paul Anthony Garcia of Irvine, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is believed Garcia was inside a restaurant when two men came in and had an altercation with him. After the suspects left the establishment, it is alleged they waited for Garcia.

One of the suspects chased him down and, across the street from the restaurant, stabbed Garcia. The crime also occurred in broad daylight.

The father and son suspects have been identified as 53-year-old Rigoberto Rodriguez and 23-year-old Mario Alberto Rodriguez.

On Friday, officials said the son is wanted for murder and his father is wanted for questioning for his participation in the crime. Both men apparently heard they were being named suspects and have fled, according to authorities.
