LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a suburban Los Angeles man who was arrested after he told police he killed his mother and then led them to her remains.

Investigators say 19-year-old Moises Meraz-Espinoza walked into a Huntington Park police station Friday and said he murdered his mother and put her body in a freezer at their Maywood apartment.

He was booked for suspicion of murder and held without bail.

Sheriff's Detective Kathy Gallagher told the Los Angeles Times Saturday that investigators have not confirmed that the body is the man's mother, but they've been led to believe so.

City News Service reports the body was partially dismembered.

The investigation is ongoing.
