San Jose Light Rail Service Back To Normal After Deadly Pedestrian Crash

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Light rail trains in San Jose were running on schedule Tuesday morning after a deadly crash in San Jose that shut down the light rail system overnight, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority officials said.

A southbound train struck and killed a man near the intersection of North First Street and East Trimble Road at 11:41 p.m. Monday, said VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress.

"The person was on the light rail tracks," she said, between Component and Karina stations.

KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:

The victim's name has not been released.

This is the second fatal accident involving a VTA light rail train this year.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, police said.
