Boxer, Off-Duty Philadelphia Cop Among Those Arrested In AC Brawl With Police Officer

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CBS) -- Six men have been arrested after starting a brawl with an Atlantic City police officer early Saturday morning.

Around 3:15 a.m., Officer Franco Syndor, who was in uniform and working an off-duty detail, approached a group of unruly men at Bally's Wild West Casino to assist security in removing them.

The group refused to leave, and then proceeded to threaten Officer Syndor with assault before he could call for back up. One of the men was identified as boxer Gabriel Rosado, who had won a boxing match at Bally's earlier that night, and another was identified as off-duty Philadelphia police officer Eliezer Morales.

Officer Syndor called for back-up, but was punched in the mouth by Rosado, who continued to swing at Syndor. Bally security intervened to help Syndor as another male began to fight alongside Rosado.

Rosado was eventually restrained before being arrested. He was also treated at the hospital for injuries sustained during the fight. Rosado faces various charges, including assault, terroristic threats, causing a riot and resisting arrest.

Four other men were also arrested for terroristic threats, inciting a riot and/or assault on police: Daniel Rosado, Felix Hernandez, Jonathan Matos, and Raul Morales. Eliezer Morales, the off-duty Philadelphia police officer, is facing charges of terroristic threats and inciting a riot.

Officer Syndor required stitches in his elbow and lip for injuries sustained during the incident.
