Boston College Student Vanishes After Night At Bar

BOSTON (CBS) - A Newton mother is pleading for her son's safe return.

"Please, please help us to find him," says Luz Mila Garcia. Her 21-year-old son, Franco Garcia, is a commuter student at Boston College. He was a musician with the college symphony and his family says he dreamed of becoming a doctor.

He was out with friends Tuesday night at Mary Ann's bar in Brighton, MA, when they say he disappeared. He was last seen at 12:15am Wednesday. About an hour later, police traced his cellphone through a ping off a tower near the BC campus. He hasn't been seen or heard from since then.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager reports

"Franco, we are waiting for you at home. My love, we need you. Please, please come home," pleads his mother.

Family and friends say it is completely out of Garcia's character to cut off contact. Since he disappeared, there's been no activity from his cell phone or ATM card.
