Teen Worker Rescued From Trench Outside Oakland Home

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A worker was rescued from a trench outside an Oakland home Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to a call around 10:45 Sunday morning, and found a 17-year old boy trapped under a piece of fallen concrete at the bottom of a six foot trench.

Fire crews were able to free the boy, and transport him to a local hospital.

"We were able to anchor off the corner of the house, and slide the concrete slabs off the individual, so we were able to extricate him," Battalion Chief Dino Torres said.

The homeowners had hired the boy to do some construction work on the property.

It is unclear what caused the accident.
