PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Steelers Country is coming to Kennywood! The park unveiled details on its mysterious "Project 412" Thursday.

At a press conference, Nick Paradise, Kennywood Park Director of Public Relations, confirmed that "Project 412" will be a new roller coaster called "The Steel Curtain."

Kennywood says the coaster, designed by S&S Worldwide, will have a record-breaking 9 inversions, a 197-foot tall loop and a 220-foot maximum height. It will reach speeds of 75 mph and last 2 minutes.

The Steel Curtain will break the Pennsylvania record for tallest roller coaster, the North American record for most inversions and the world record for tallest inversion.

The coaster is expected to open in 2019.

The ride will be in a new section of the park called "Steelers Country."

"We are going to be converting this whole area into 'Steelers Country' at Kennywood, a themed area dedicated to the team, to the NFL experience and the fans of the team, most importantly," Paradise said.

Kennywood says they are the first amusement park in the country to collaborate with a professional sports franchise.

"It was an immediate fit. Once we started talking about the name and about all that it meant, it was an immediate fit," Ryan Huzjak, Steelers Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said.

"Steelers Country" will include a number of new attractions, including a new restaurant called the "End Zone Cafe" and other Steelers-themed games and activities.

The park announced in early June that it had broken ground on "Project 412." Clues about the ride were teased on the park's social media accounts and a contest offered the chance to be among the first to ride it.

The Steel Curtain will be built on the former Log Jammer site. Kennywood's Log Jammer was retired and torn down at the end of last season.
